The girl next door
Recently I changed my status on Facebook to 'in a relationship'
and many girls clicked 'like' but earlier when my status said single no one
clicked 'like'. What can one infer out of this? That actually girls are happy
that I will stop pestering them (or so they presumed).
I would be narrating a
story about one of my best friends (but he hasn't actually given me a treat for
his placement which happened more than six months ago). This is the story about
his childhood crush. So let us begin.
Start of
story
The teacher said "Gaurvit, stop gazing out of the window and
concentrate in the class", by that time I already had two kids with Richa
in my fantasy world. But enough of Richa, I dropped a year and came to Kota to
clear JEE, not to think about Richa. I had already wasted two years of my life
trying to woe Richa.
Finally just to get rejected by her for a millionth time.
Richa was my next door neighbor and used to like her since
childhood. I thought we would have that fairy tale love story with childhood
lovers living together happily ever after. I used to do everything possible to
grab her attention from giving her moronic younger brother mathematics tuitions
to playing tipi tipi tap with her and her friends in the evening. But for her,
I was like non-existent.
So one day I decided to go to her and confess my feelings. I knew
that in the evenings she used to be alone at her place so I talked to some
friends about confessing my feelings. Friends are such jerks that whenever they
get an opportunity to enjoy, they give the wrong advice. Most of them
suggested that I should talk to her and confess my feelings while some of them
went to the extent of saying that since she would be alone at home so I should
take a condom along. I just went with a chocolate. I saw the slippers of her
parents outside their door so I came back running to my friends saying that her
parents are at home. They assured that they are not at home, they generally
keep their slippers outside the gate. So then I went back and rang the door
bell. But no one answered. I saw that she had seen me from the kitchen window
so I went on ringing the bell for the next ten minutes. She finally came out
and I told her that I liked her. She replied that she was too immature to go
into a relationship (after a month she was dating someone else, I fail to
understand how much one can mature within a month). So I came back broken
hearted, ate the chocolate and slept.
In the next couple of months, I asked her out every other day and
then from my persuading her to be my lover, I came down to friends with
benefits to 'fix me up with some friend of yours', but she didn't agree to any.
After a few days the entrance exam for IIT took place which I
obviously didn't clear so I dropped a year.
I got to know that she made a boyfriend and I was filled with rage
and I guess that rage fueled me partially to study for IIT-JEE. I used to study
for like ten to twelve hours every day and also spent an hour every morning to
build up my body.
The JEE approached and it was the second and last chance for me so
I had to make it count.
I cleared JEE and got
through to IIT, I was exuberated and no girl in the world mattered to me
anymore.
End of story
So that is the feeling of being in an IIT. Gaurvit got placed in one of the world's
biggest software firms, something which would have never happened had his
childhood crush worked. How many childhood affairs end up in a happily ever
after ending anyway? Not many. So I actually believe that whatever
happens, happens for the best.
