Moves like Jagger

I am thinking of writing a self help book titled ‘100 ways to pick up random girls’. Since I recently passed out from college and as everyone is aware that ‘I have nothing else to do’, so instead of looking for a job, I am looking for ways to pick up random girls.
The latest in the list is foreign language classes. According to a recent survey (by me), a large number of expat chicks join classes to learn foreign languages. The most popular ones being Francais (French) and Espagnol (Spanish).
Now I’ll tell you a story, I studied at a reputed  school, and to justify the exorbitant amount of money being charged as fees, such schools try to teach a foreign language (deep emphasis on the phrase ‘try to’). Well, the story isn’t about the foreign language, it is about the teacher who taught the language. Apparently,  he was a French teacher but in the seven years he taught us the language, he didn’t even utter four consecutive sentences in English, forget about French, studying  French from him not only impacted our French but our English as well (I hope that you figure out that the impact was negative). The only reason he used to teach in school was so that he could fetch students for his personal tuitions where he used to leak the questions which he would be asking in exams. So even after studying French for seven years, my proficiency in the language was on a beginner level.
Still, when it came to the choice between French and Spanish, I chose French. The reason being simple, all the others students would be like blank slates so I will get to show off my filled up slate (even if it is scribbled).
I went to the first class with high expectations (not from the language but from the crowd). In my class there were a total of four girls in a batch of ten. The percentage was good but as I found out some time later, the percentage of available was the same as in an IIT, that is zero. One of the girls was a school kid, another one was texting on the phone the whole time (probably to her boyfriend), another actually brought her boyfriend along for the class as if it was a couples therapy session and noticing the ring on the finger of the fourth and the number of bangles in her hand, it wasn’t hard to figure out that she was married. I could feel every second of the next one hour of the class ticking in my head. As soon as the class got over, I got up, all set to run out and not set foot in the class again ( I thought that maybe Spanish is more my cup of tea). That is the moment when I saw her walking into the class.
There are some people who have those magnetic vibes around them which attract everyone towards them. It isn’t just about the looks or the intellect, it is the entire persona.
Even if you have read a couple of blog posts of mine, you must have figured out what I would have done next. I got my batch changed so that I could attend classes with her batch. After the class got over, I went up to her and confidently asked “hey, are you from DPS?” She responded “There is a DPS in every nook and corner of the city. For an hour you were sitting there and this is the line you come up with? Are you that dumb? But still, I’ll answer your question, I didn’t do my schooling from India, neither was I enrolled in any DPS abroad”. I responded back arrogantly “Well about the dumb part, I am an IITian”. She said “and I am a college dropout. I guess degrees can be quite deceptive”. I calmed down and said “I think that we started off on the wrong foot. Hi, I am Sidhant”. She said “Hi Sidhant, I am XYZ ( she is a well known figure so I am not disclosing the name”. I was about to carry on the chit chat when I was cut short by her “I am sorry Sidhant, I have to rush, we can catch up some other time or if you are really inquisitive, you can google me”. I said “Sure, nice meeting you”. At the back of my mind I was wondering, ‘what a dumb chick, how can I google her by just her first name’.
But as ‘I have nothing else to do’ so I did try googling her first name when I reached back home. Well, she is living my dream, hers is the first profile which comes up when someone googles her first name. After getting to know about her, the first feelings which anyone gets is an appreciation and respect for whatever she has achieved at such a young age.
She was settled abroad with her family abroad and came back to India for her undergraduation. But on entering college life, she realized this wasn’t what she wanted. Many of us get this realization on entering college life, but we just sit back and crib. She was different, she dropped out of college to pursue her real passion, dance. And she reached new horizons in the field. In fact, she was one of the major driving force behind bringing a paradigm shift in the dance culture in India. The image of dance changed from an abstract form of art to a mainstream career option.
The next time I met her, I asked (read pleaded) her to take me to take me to her school of dancing with her. She obliged me with the same. On reaching there, she started practicing some dance moves for an upcoming event of hers. By looking at the way she moved her body, the song ‘moves like Jagger’ started echoing in my head. Watching her dance was like watching Step Up 3D and that too without the crappy glasses. She flexes each muscle in her body to such a degree that if a droplet of water falls on her, one can see it making waves as it trickles down her body.
I can’t do justice to her character in just one blog post, I think I need an entire novel for it. I was anyway, on popular demand (read out of sheer boredom) thinking about starting some actual writing via something like a novel. And a topic like her would actually be much better to read about than my random escapades.

Let’s hope for the best and see what happens.

Later
Sidhant
