Last respite
So I have observed a
queer attitude in the people of India. They need a famous actor to star in a
movie highlighting some misdoing in the country to actually get agitated about
things or praise the forgotten actual heroes of this country. And that agitation
or praise decreases exponentially, more rapidly than the weekly box office
collection of the movie. I am not referring to any movie in particular, I am
just talking about a trend. One can see millions of Facebook posts about such a
movie, but awareness being spread about actual misdoings is quite minimal. I am
talking about Indian boxer Sarita Devi, who quite recently, in a semi final clash with a Korean
in the Asian games, was unfairly ruled against in the bout by both the judges.
She in protest, refused to wear the bronze medal. She said "It has been 24
hours and not one official has come to speak with me and ask me if I am fine.
They just come here to take photos with medalists and nothing else." She
had kept her child away from her, just so that she could train harder. She had
won a silver in the Commonwealth games earlier this year. India has lodged an
official complaint, but we all know what the end result will be.
On the lighter note,
another interesting incident happened in my mundane life. I got a friend
request on Facebook, from a guy from my college. Must be a couple of years
junior, I never saw him during my college life. But nowadays, stories about
juniors looking for inspiration from seniors are doing rounds. And I can be a
great source of inspiration. So in that anticipation, I accepted his request.
Within minutes of my accepting the request, I got a copy pasted message from
him, asking me to go and like his picture on some Facebook page of our college
cultural fest. The guy with the maximum number of likes is supposedly winning
some hamper goodies. So, firstly I deleted him off my Facebook account, then I
went to the page he had mentioned, and Facebook liked the photo of a some
random guy of some other college. I later, got to know that he had sent friend
requests to a lot of other friends, even the ones who weren't even of my
college. Such guys are the ones who taint the image of all IITians. And then we
crib that we don't have girls to talk to.
Anyway, coming to the
crux of the post. New post so a new girl. I have mentioned it time and again
that it isn't by choice that this happens. If it was up to me, I would keep
sketching the same girl with words, but sadly, it isn't up to me.
This girl is a fashion
designer, what is the first things which comes to mind are glamour and
superficiality. She is a total opposite of superficiality, she is as
grounded as it gets. But it doesn't mean that she is not good at what she does.
She is nothing short of amazing. From designing clothes for leading actors to
voice her views on fashion in the leading dailies, she has done it all. And
that too, at such a young age. I had heard that girls, especially the ones in
the fashion world, are quite finicky about even stepping out in the sun. Well,
she is quite the gypsy. She recently undertook a trip, all the way to Leh and
Ladakh. And her love for stray animals is just unmatched.
She is also into writing
shorter verses of prose. Unlike my lame writing, her writing is quite deep and
philosophical. It has a sort of hidden pain and a slight despise against this
world.
And, well, I always
leave out the best part for the end. Her looks, well, there are certain moments
when I feel that I was a better writer. My writing can't do justice to her
looks, but still, let me try. It is because girls like her, that the fashion
industry is not able to prosper in India. I mean no matter what she's wearing,
she can make the even the girl with the most fashionable wardrobe look out of
place. If someone has a long and tiring day, one look at her smiling face is
all he needs to take all the fatigue away. Her face is cheerful and bubbly and
at the same time full of serenity.
So what actually
happened. I had to meet her up one day and she was tied up with the
preparations of an upcoming fashion event. She was trying to get free, but was
tied up with meetings. I out of my excitement, kept on texting and calling her
till a point when she got irritated and called it off.
So still, 'I have
nothing else to do', and I am back to my last respite, writing.
