The pink handbag
So someone recently told me that my potential life partner would have real trust issues once she reads the blog. Let me make a couple of facts lucid. This blog is just a quasi fiction piece of writing. It is quite blown out of proportions. When it comes to my blog posts, I follow the 70-30 rule. Roughly seventy percent of it is fiction, and the rest thirty, one would never figure out. That being said, as I am not that 'evolved' a writer yet, I stick to making the male protagonist as myself, and unlike some 'writers,' Don't try to get into others shoes (or stilettos). I realized that people might try to gauge me from the blog. Well, the blog is not me. In fact, I would be quite grateful, if you could tell me about some other genre which would suit my style of writing.
Anyway, coming to the muse of the blog post, Ahmedabad is the hub for fashion designing. There are some fashion schools as well as fashion entrepreneurs. Fashion events, shows, and flea markets happen in Ahmedabad now and then. I had taken a project analyzing the effectiveness of social media in fashion retail. I was attending one such event. That is where I first saw her. From the moment I first set eyes on her, I knew that I had to go up to her. After a bit of chit chatting, we exchanged numbers.
I texted her asking her when it was feasible for her to meet up as she seemed interesting, and I would like to know her better. She told me that she hadn't met anyone from IIM earlier, and I better be interesting too. Now, this was a tremendous responsibility.
It was early November, and the weather was quite pleasant. She gently inquired if I preferred sitting outdoors instead. I suggested that we could go to the IIMA campus instead as we could save so much money by not spending on overpriced drinks (ordeals of a student life). The campus looks quite beautiful at night, especially with the pleasant breeze and fantastic company. The feeling was quite ethereal. As we were passing the cafeteria, I noticed the people staring at me. At first, I thought that they might be amazed how I ended up walking with such a gorgeous girl. I was feeling quite 'proud' of myself. Suddenly, I noticed that I was holding her bag, and the people silently mocked me. Although the pink handbag was quite chic and fashionable, it looked out of place in my hand.
We were in my room and talking about how she runs the business and manages a team of twenty. Her work entails manufacture of the denim cloth which she supplies to large-scale production houses. I was utterly amazed by her clarity of thought and vision as an entrepreneur at such a young age. She looked gorgeous, to say the least. The hazel color of her eyes looked quite enigmatic in the dimly lit room, and the way her hair wavered down her shoulders was just perfect. I complimented her now and then, but she blushed it away. I asked her the reason, and she told me that she is not good at taking compliments. I pointed out that maybe it is her disinterest in me. She immediately denied and said I am interesting (good looking+genius). She even asked if I was keen on taking a trip with her and a couple of friends later this month.
Seems all right? Well, a minor glitch, as she was leaving, I gave her two options, either she could choose to be on my blog, or she could see me again. She leaned in, and whispered in my ear, "Make it a great blog post, I hope you have enough to write about."
